Join The Campaign To Save East Riding Community Hospital Beds

Patients across the East Riding face being shunted into care homes from community hospitals under new plans by East Riding of Yorkshire Primary Care Trust. The plans would involve removing all beds from hospitals at Beverley, Driffield, Hornsea and Withernsea and replacing them with 50 NHS beds at privately run care homes across the county.

I believe that these cuts are dangerous and will expose us all to unnecessary risk. Indeed, they may cost lives! Together, we must fight for all community hospital beds in the region to remain open. Make your voice heard before we lose these vital beds. Doing nothing is not an option. Please support our campaign and ask your friends and family to do the same.

Hands Off Our Hospitals

Welcome to the new site dedicated to saving community hospitals in the East Riding of Yorkshire.

As the Beverley & Holderness MP I am determined to keep NHS beds available to local people in Hornsea, Withernsea and Beverley.

Greg Knight MP is equally committed to protecting beds at Driffield and Bridlington.

Across England the Government is running a policy of bed and hospital closures. More than 2000 beds in community hospitals have been closed since 1999 and 11 hospitals have closed so far this year.

CHANT (Community Hospitals Acting Nationally Together) is the national group campaigning for community hospitals and the services they provide. CHANT - www.chantonline.org.uk - which I chair, is a cross-party group with Labour, Liberal Democrat, Independent and Conservative MPs and peers as patrons. See the CHANT website for campaigning tips and the latest news from across England.
